Computer works on the principal of binary code.
The binary code consists only 2 numbers ‘0’ & ‘1’
A ll the operations are represented using these 2 symbols.
For mathematical operations of 2 values number system is not appropriate.
The computer does not accept decimal numbers or letters directly.
It convert decimal number or any other character into Binary system.
The binary digits are called bits.
The binary number system uses digit ‘0’ and ‘1’ as codes to represent decimal numbers and alphabets.
The word bit is the abbreviation for ‘Binary digit’. 8 bits make one ‘byte’.
