1.8 BINARY NUMBER SYSTEM:

 Computer works on the principal of binary code.
 The binary code consists only 2 numbers ‘0’ & ‘1’
 A ll the operations are represented using these 2 symbols.
 For mathematical operations of 2 values number system is not appropriate.
 The computer does not accept decimal numbers or letters directly.
 It convert decimal number or any other character into Binary system.
 The binary digits are called bits.
 The binary number system uses digit ‘0’ and ‘1’ as codes to represent decimal numbers and alphabets.
 The word bit is the abbreviation for ‘Binary digit’. 8 bits make one ‘byte’.
